- The plot of this episode could be a reference to the novel Shane, in regards to the fact that Buzz is the bitter former fighter who longs to start a new life elsewhere, only to find and meet a parental figure or two with a son who changes his life around.
- This episode hints that Buzz may be in his forties due to the flashback taking place 20 years ago.
