"42" is the sixty-second and final episode of Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. It first aired on January 13, 2001 on ABC.
Overview[]
Team Lightyear break into a freighter ship to save a paranoid autopilot, AP-06, from a long-forgotten group of space pirates known as the Valkyran Raiders. Afterwards, they attempt to fight back against this new threat with an experimental sensor implemented in Star Cruiser 42, and in the process gave birth to XR’s love interest, the ship itself. After assisting the ungrateful Buzz, the sentient female programmed A.I. refuses to cooperate with the so-called fleshpots, and its refusal to make itself publicly known to XR’s gang lead the rest of the crew to believe that XR is undergoing mental fatigue from the sensor’s recent energy jolt. After seeing their heroic actions, 42 chips in once again to save the day, and they repay her by getting the recently sentient A.I. a body of her own and a chance to be her own person… but XR loses his unrealized soulmate in the process.
